Dear St. Valentine and Hallmark,
I would personally like to thank you for always making me feel like a loser. Your expectations for romance and red roses have made me feel like I have failed, while making the men appear worse than they are. No matter what I do every year I just cannot seem to please you, I always fall short. The men in my life always seem to disappear this time of year due to anxiety and fear of commitment. Isn’t love already scary enough?? Do we have to put a holiday around the pressures we already face when we are waiting for the ONE?!
Why celebrate something that doesn’t come naturally for some of us?
Are you upset with me because I focus on my music career too much?
Did I piss cupid off last V-day when I threw his bow in the fireplace at the last mixer?? By the way, he is a complete chauvinistic jerk WHO thinks he knows it all by shoving his nose in other peoples business. He tried to set me up with a guy who didn’t have a car OR job. Lack of reality on his part.
Have I some how mislead you to believe that I don’t care about love? Maybe I am just too independent for your liking.
I would like to bring up a universal truth that you and MR HALLMARK have completely disregarded. LOVE, real deep love only shows up when you aren’t looking and when the universe has agreed it’s time.
So stop shoving your hearts and candy down my throat, I’ll swallow whatever I choose when I feel like it. Its my mouth for heavens sake.
Happy Valentines Day.
