Babies on the Mind
by Autumn Love

Ok, true confessions. Has this ever been you? You’re casually strolling through the mall, about to walk into J.Crew, Banana, or Vickie’s – but something catches your eye – no, not the Cinnabon, or the greek god standing outside Abercrombie&Fitch – no, it’s a rosy-cheeked baby staring at you! For some strange (perhaps biological) reason, you cannot look away – forget the gladiator sandals at Aldo, you want to get a BABY!

I know, I know, it’s not like you’re ready to pop one of those things out (have you seen the Discovery channel, yuck). But I would venture to say we’ve all had this feeling, however fleeting it may be. The thought of holding a cute apple-cheeked baby is nice, but the thought of having to take care of someone other than yourself, at this point in your life, is just unfathomable. I mean, who is more important than moi? I don’t think there is anything wrong with focusing on developing yourself, rather than another human being – although you’re ovaries may think differently since women are most fertile when they’re young.  So it’s no surprise our maternal instincts creep up on us and surprises us every now and then, like when we walk through a mall full of a babies. Yet, our self-involved priorities are crucial to developing our careers, our bank accounts, and ourselves so that we can be great parents someday. We are wise enough, to be selfish enough to know that we could not handle a kid until we are really, truly ready. So in the meantime, I’m just going to continue to cruise the local mall, if not for Sephora, then for the babies that seem to hang out there.

  1. Yes, if you see the stork on the radar, you can let him into the air space, just don’t give him permission to land until you are all set. If he loses a wing somewhere or gets lost and crashes on the runway, do what you gotta do. Just sometimes it just better to divert him if possible. :)

Since my ast serious relationship in 2011 to 2012 I was headed in that direction with my ex….we picked out a house together, he bought it, then asked me to move in, we had our house warming, then had our kitchen remodeled all because i loved to cook….then BAM, he got fired from his job and dumps me a week later. Ever since that last relationship I have been having baby fever. I mean heck, the 3rd room in our house was the smallest and right next door to our master bedroom and I called it the Bambino room (baby in italian) and decorated it in super bright fun colors and decor. Lately though…since i turned 35, i’ve had baby fever to the craziest extent…already wondering which single male friend i could have a baby with. I mean you men don’t have to go through what we go through…you can father children all the way into your 60s-70s.
