Inner balance is something that we all need to achieve in order to be centered, focused and harmonious, and feel our very best. And even though there are many practices, such as yoga and meditation, that can help us fulfill that goal, most of us tend to overlook the importance of nutrition. It is true that we are what we eat; the quality of the food we choose, as well as the manner in which we eat it, can help stabilize our emotions and our mood, leading to a healthier, more balanced life. So, if you want to achieve inner balance through your diet, here are some tips that will help you accomplish that goal:

Practice mindful eating

A meditative practice that focuses on the way we eat our food, mindful eating is the best way to clear distracting thoughts, engage your senses and pay full attention to your meal, in order to get the best experience out of your food and avoid overeating, which is often caused by stress and overall imbalance.

Before you start eating a meal, take some time to appreciate what is on the plate in front of you. Look at the gorgeous colors, smell the incredible scents and taste the different aromas and textures before you finally swallow that delicious bite. Eating like this will help you acknowledge your response to food without getting into judgment, allowing your brain to signalize to your body that it’s full, making you much less likely to overeat and leaving you satisfied.

Opt for nourishing ingredients

A healthy meal consists of more than just the right combination of macronutrients or the ideal number of calories eaten; a healthy and balanced diet is one that provides nourishment and energy to your body through vitamins and minerals found in whole foods. The food you eat is the fuel your body needs to function properly, but it also reflects the care and effort you put into maintaining optimal health and achieving inner balance.

So, incorporate plenty of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytonutrients into your daily diet, but don’t forget to add some healthy supplements, such as the beneficial chaga extract, that will provide your body with all the essential nutrients it needs for the day. This intuitive aspect of eating has been stripped away for a more mechanical process of eating simply to silence the grumbling in our bellies. Although it may sound intimidating, intuitive eating simply represents eating in alignment with your body’s actual needs, in order to achieve overall wellness and inner balance.

You can’t restore inner balance with nutrition overnight. It requires practice, patience and determination, but it is completely worth the effort. Creating a more mindful diet will help you heal your relationship to food and create a higher awareness of your body’s response to food, leading to a healthier and more balanced life.
