5 Easy Ways to Rejuvenate Your Health to Promote Happiness. Health and happiness can often be linked together. The better our body feels, the better our mind feels, and vice versa. This isn’t always the case though. Of course you can be healthy and unhappy, or happy and unhealthy. However, there are still some easy changes you can make to rejuvenate your health that has the added benefit of promoting happiness. Through making meal plans, sleeping better, taking mental health days, trying new activities, and tracking your health, you can rejuvenate small areas of your overall health that will also promote a sense of peace. The deliberate act of making positive changes for our health tends to leave us feeling better and happier overall. 

Start Meal Planning

Something as simple as a meal plan can do wonders for the diet portion of your overall health. Planning out each meal can help to reduce money spent on eating out, can help to plan grocery lists, and gives you more control over making healthy eating decisions for your body. Not only that, but you can work in a cheat day, a day to make something completely new, and a few days to make something easy. Meal planning doesn’t require the expertise of a nutritionist or a chef; it just requires some forethought on your part. Sometimes just being mindful about what you’re eating and cooking can make all the difference for your diet and overall happiness. 

Sleep Better 

Easier said than done, right? There’s rarely a magic fix for anything, but now is as good a time as any. You might try a weighted blanket which can really help you sleep if you have any issues with anxiety, some sleep disorders, or even issues with PTSD that affect your sleep. You might try starting your nighttime routine earlier in order to get to sleep at a more reasonable time. For some, reading before bed, nighttime tea, relaxing sounds, or blackout curtains do the trick. Getting good sleep is such an important aspect of your health and can affect things like stress and sickness. For that reason, it’s a good idea to start improving your happiness by rejuvenating this aspect of your overall health. 

Take Mental Health Days 

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. In fact, many times the two are intertwined. If you’ve been lacking on monitoring your mental health and allowing yourself to have some mental health days, take the time for it now. Having a mental health day can mean a number of different things for different people. It might mean taking a day to read by yourself; having a baking day with your mom; taking a hike with the dog; or organizing a brunch with your friends. Find the things that bring you peace and happiness and sprinkle them into your schedule in order to avoid some stress. Your mental health is an aspect of your health that is heavily tied to your happiness, so don’t let it fall by the wayside. 

Try a New Activity

Trying a new activity can be great for your physical health as well as your mental health and happiness. New physical activities can mean finding an activity that you love that can keep you active and stress-free. Rock climbing, kayaking, or a dance class can all be new physical activities to try. As the weather gets warmer, getting outside and finding a new outdoor activity can make all the difference. Even if you aren’t very outdoorsy or adventurous, you can find an outdoor activity to work for your personality. Taking a nature walk, reading on the porch, or taking outdoor photographs can be your outdoor activity. However, new activities don’t have to be physical or take place outside. You might try a new restaurant, take yourself on a date, try painting, plant a garden, or take a cooking class. New experiences can increase our happiness and health at the same time.

Track Your Health 

Sometimes the first step in really understanding how to rejuvenate your health is to track it. Being able to track certain aspects of your health is one reason why digital healthcare experiences are becoming more popular. Using wearable technology, people are now able to see how active they are, how they sleep, their heart rate, and their calorie intake, among other things. Through this information, you can see the things you can improve on and the things you’re doing well. If you’re not into wearable technology, you can track your health using your own notes or even bullet journaling. This doesn’t have to be a giant project to keep track of every aspect of your life, but it can be a good habit to start doing in order to make the appropriate changes that your tracking indicates. 

Any time is as good as any to rejuvenate your health. What we might not realize is that the act of making positive changes for our health can have additional benefits for our happiness. Though the correlation between health and happiness isn’t true for everyone, it’s still an added perk to rejuvenating small areas of our health. You don’t have to be the picture of perfect health or free of all health issues, you just have to be willing to try to make a few changes. Hopefully, you’ll appreciate the changes you’re making for yourself and your overall happiness will follow.
