The holidays are over and 2013 is here, which means many of us ladies made health and fitness resolutions- that we hope to keep for longer than a month. Why not detox from all the holiday overeating and drinking with a refreshing FRUIT FLUSH! Sometimes our body needs a little cleaning when we want to kick start a new lifestyle change like healthy eating. This 3-day detox was created by Jay Robb and is pretty simple to follow and do. I did the Fruit Flush and it went well- definitely saw my abs a little better than I had seen them days earlier! I lost some water weight, my body felt tighter, and I got motivated to start & maintain my clean eating after the detox. Give it a try and keep those fitness resolutions!
Here’s a summary of the detox:
Day 1 (Pre-flush): Every two hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Drink a 6-ounce protein drink (made with water not milk) followed by 8-12 ounces of water
Dinner: 3-6 cups of raw vegetable salad with 1 to 2 tablespoons olive or flaxseed oil OR 1/2 avocado, plus half a lemon or lime
3-6 ounces lean protein (i.e. fish, chicken, or lean cut of steak) or egg whites
Days 2 and 3
Every two hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Eat one serving (approximately 100 calories’ worth) of fresh fruit and drink 8-12 ounces water
Dinner: 3-6 cups of raw vegetable salad with 1 to 2 tablespoons olive or flaxseed oil or 1/ 2 avocado, plus half a lemon or lime
1 protein drink (made with water)
-Avoid hardcore exercise since you’re not consuming much calories- I did yoga.
-My new favorite protein is Tera’s Whey Free Fair Trade Dark Chocolate, which can be found at Whole Foods- it’s organic, gluten free, delicious, and doesn’t have the following ingredients (which your protein should not have for this detox)- NO casein, calcium caseinate, sodium caseinate, fructose, aspartame, acesulfame-K, acesulfame potassium, sucralose, sugar, sucrose, evaporated cane juice, or artificial flavors and/or colors)
-Don’t know what 100 calories of fruits looks like? Check out this website to see photos. Makes preparing your fruit much easier. Also, have fun with it…switch up the fruit! http://www.fitsugar.com/Photos-100-Calorie-Servings-Fruit-17521344
-Plan! Pack your food or shakes for the day so you can be ready to eat every two hours if you’re out and about.
