I hate crappy thoughts. I love good ones. Because of this, I’m a big believer in the law of attraction. Like attracts like. So if you’re feeling good, you are attracting good feeling things. We are well aware of the fact that sometimes we are in a not so wonderful situation. So we ask the Universe, “How in the heck am I supposed to feel good when I’m in a crap hole situation?” I’m not the Universe, but I still have an awesome answer for you. All you need is your handy dandy journal and pen.
I’m a huge fan of the book, “Ask and It is Given” by Esther and Jerry Hicks. In this book they talk about a technique called, “The List of Positive Aspects”. You basically write down something in your life that you wish you could feel better about at the top of the page. For example, your job, relationship or your stinky pet rabbits. Then you list all of the positive aspects of that noun. Let the pen flow on the paper. It’s crazy how simple, yet eye opening this exercise is. It doesn’t take hours and it really helps you see the positive, which, hint hint, makes you start to feel better. Taking the time to do the exercise on paper is much more effective then just listing positive things in your head because this exercise creates focus and allows you to really feel the benefits of it in your heart.
This exercise is one of the first steps towards changing your thoughts on a subject. This will in turn allow you to feel better about the subject, which will in turn allow you to attract more awesome things into your life because you will begin to feel more awesome. I’ve learned from experience, writing this list doesn’t hand you some huge, drastic, thunder and lightening storm, positive difference right away. But what it does do, is lift a little weight off of your shoulders and allows you to smile because you see something in a better light. I’d definitely rather feel that than being bitter about something. I’ve also learned that the more you make this exercise a routine, the better it works. You can’t just do it once and expect amazing results. That’s like going to the gym once to get crazy rockin’ abs. It ain’t happenin’ that fast. But the more you do it the better it gets. Fact of the matter, I used to look at my pet rabbits as heavy poopers who I had to clean a lot and now I see them as helpless animals that I saved and gave a good life too. So grab that initial engraved pen and journal and start turning that life into the greatness you know it is, one little awesome exercise at a time!
