Fall is rapidly approaching so let’s talk about a few items to gear your closet towards fall without doing too much damage to your bank account. With these essential pieces, you can pair them with some of your summer wardrobe pieces to save a few bucks, while staying fashionable.
Half gloves are one of my favorite accessories. They’re great for fall because they’ll keep your finger tips warm on a brisk autumn evening, while spicing up your outfit. They come in several colors, synthetic leather or genuine leather.
Synthetic leather half gloves ranging from $2.50-$5.80 per pair, Plain genuine leather half gloves $9.99 per pair, Studded genuine leather half gloves $22.45. All half gloves from www.ebay.com
The change from summer to fall always makes me feel a little down, missing my tiny little summer time fun outfits. At times the weight of all the fall/winter layers can get you missing your flirty sundresses. To make my fall wardrobe pop, I’m a big fan of brooches on my poncho, blazer or sweater. It’s a great way to dress up your outer wear on the way to whatever warmer indoor place you’re headed to.

Tights are a great way to keep warm when you’re missing your mini skirts and dresses, while not looking ridiculous for going out in the chilly climate not wearing enough clothing. Some funky tights can sharpen up a plain dress, or be paired with a mini or pencil skirt and your favorite sweater or t-shirt.
Jonathan Aston Heritage Argyle Tights, $12, JohnLewis.com, Paisley Floral Openwork Tight, $14, UrbanOutfitters.com, ASOS Leopard Detail Suspender Tights, $9.33, ASOS.com, Commando 2 tone Ribbed Tights, Black Red, S 1 ea, $25, Beauty.com, Ring My Belle Tights, $18, ModCloth.com, Black Daisy Lace Tights, $7.67, NewLook.com, Pamela Mann Gothic Baroque Tights, KatesClothing.co.uk
If you’re tired of your blazers, sweaters, or pea coats, ponchos are a really fun and easy way to mix up your fall wardrobe. It’s like throwing on a big hoodie except it looks much more fashionable. Add a brooch to your poncho, throw on some leggings, a long sleeved t-shirt and your favorite flats or boots and you’ve got a comfortable (yet polished) look to run errands, go shopping, meet with a friend, etc.

When winter gets closer, get ready for the rainfall with some dapper rain boots. Stay comfortable and dry with these cute rain boots. *Bonus points* they’re great for when the winter approaches and the light snow turns to slush and the streets are wet and mucky. You’ll look fashionable while braving the weather.
Dorothy Perkins Leopard bow ankle wellies, $35, dorothyperkins.com, Kamik Gwyneth, $52, Zappos.com, Pica Spike Rain Boot, $35, shopakira.com, Sperry Top-Sider Pelican Too $62 Zappos.com.
I love ankle boots. In the world of boots versus the world of dating, ankle boots fall into the category of the guy you’re casually seeing that you’re not quite sure you want to commit to. Not quite a flat, sneaker, or heel, but not the full tall boot. They’re great and go with a variety of different types of fall looks from skinny jeans to mini skirts and tights.
Rebel Vegan Strappy Mid Heeled Ankle Boots $45, www.fashion-conscience.com, ASOS ASTON Ankle Boots RED or BLACK, $85, asos.com, Gold suede cuban heel boot, $95, dorothyperkins.com, Mel Quilted Back Chelsea Boot, $30, boohoo.com.
A tall boot is definitely more of a commitment, but if you get it right they’re totally worth it. While they cost a bit more money compared to an ankle boot, when paired with the right outfit it’s “look out fashionista!”. A pair of black tall boots paired with black skinny jeans can help give the illusion of longer legs (whether you have them or not). Tall boots paired with leggings, your favorite t-shirt, a blazer and some long necklaces is also a flattering look. Stay away from mini skirts paired with tall boots, however. 80% percent of the time that looks screams “streetwalker”.
