Another year gone by marking the anniversary of 9/11. Today I am reminded of my freedom of speech, the choices I make, and the rights I have. Personally I would like to keep it that way. The whole country came together to get through that horrific time, there was a beautiful unity where right and left disappeared and we all became one.
I was 16 when it happened and it changed my life forever. I realized that with beauty there is pain and the world isn’t as safe as I thought it was.
I sculpted a sculpture in art class that year and engraved these words in it, “Everything has changed, the seed of fear has been planted.” This was a very true statement BUT I feel that our country has done a wonderful job moving forward, as we always do.
What do you remember about that day? What changed for you? And what are you going to do from now on to instill the freedom we continue to have?
“The purpose of the “I will” campaign is to give positive direction to the powerful emotions around the tragedy and transform the negativity that surrounds it into a lasting movement of kindness, good deeds and charitable service that stands to come alive every year on the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance.”
Today I will donate to the red cross.
What are you going to do?? (feel free to comment below)
May we always remember the lives lost and affected by giving back to our country.
