The Return of the ’00s Fashion Trends

Beauty + Fashion

Tell us, fashion of the ’00s, why’d you have to go and make things so complicated? We were all so comfortable wearing all of those fashion trends from circa 15 years ago, and then they disappeared just for us to realize that they were, in lack of a better word – awful. However, since things change, seasons change, which means that fashion trends change as well. The fashion of the ’70s and ’80s made its return and went away somewhere to hibernate until 2036 when it will probably return again. Then we saw some of the most iconic ’90s looks coming back, and now that we’re kind of bored with that, it’s time for the ’00s to come back and see if they can serve some great looks this time. Well – it can, and these are the most important trends of the previous decade that are coming back and are stronger than ever. (Paris Hilton likes this)

Spaghetti-strap tank-tops

When you think about the ’00s, you think it was not so long ago, but let this sink in: Paris Hilton was the biggest celebrity in Hollywood, with Kim Kardashian being her personal assistant. Now it’s probably the other way around. However, both of them were rocking the spaghetti-strap tank tops, alongside with Kate Moss and other models. Now, these camisoles with built-in bras are back again and returning to major stores such as Old Navy or Neiman Marcus. If you wear this over a regular T-shirt, it’s even better, and the ’00s feels are stronger. This means that you can take a look at your old clothes, find a piece and rock it in the streets or the club.

Dior saddle bag

Nothing screams ’00s fashion more than Carrie Bradshaw. We know her gigantic love towards shoes and bags (and of course Mr Big, but he’s probably #3 after shoes and bags), so why not go back in time and make something she wore popular again? That’s the case with the Dior saddle bag, which became extremely popular in the first half of the ’00s, having owners such as Beyoncé and Paris Hilton (we’re mentioning Paris Hilton once again as she was, like it or not, quite a trendsetter back then). Dior revamped this bag for their 2018/2019 collection, so let’s brace ourselves while we watch Bella Hadid and other superstars wearing them on catwalks.

Monogram mania

One thing was certain circa 2004 – if it’s expensive, let people know it. This is why logos of some of the most important brands of the time, such as Dior, Gucci and Louis Vuitton were seen all over the TV. Just remember the Gisele Bundchen all-over monogrammed photo session for Dior in 2004. Now that Kylie Jenner made this look fashionable again by wearing a Fendi Zucca print dress, many companies went after the monogram mania, and it’s still on the rise. The most important difference? Since it’s 2018 and we’re all about tolerance, we can finally find very fashionable plus size clothing of the same design and pattern. So it doesn’t matter what size you wear, having the Louis Vuitton logo all over you is not going to be just a dream anymore!

Tube tops

If you take a look at the photographs of Christina Aguilera from her Stripped era, the first thing you will see are either her piercings or the tube tops that she used to rock on every single red carpet. Next to her, you can see P!nk or Ashley Tisdale (if you’re a bit younger) and still think “wow, this looks weird but I’d definitely wear it again”. The time has come, as Kendall Jenner made this look happen again. And who said that you cannot make fetch happen?

Juicy tracksuits

In the 2000’s, the Juicy tracksuits were worn by our most loved celebrities of the time – Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan. Then, a decade later, this trend became a big cringe. However, it seems that the Juicy tracksuits are back and we have to be honest – we really love them. Some of the biggest celebrities of today, such as Rihanna or Kylie Jenner were photographed wearing such tracksuits and it does indeed look amazing and very retro. Kanye West also produced something very similar for his Yeezy Season 5, but we’re still to see if that’s going to happen. Until then – Juicy on your bottom and you’re good to go!

Denim skirts

One of the most iconic look of the ’00s was served by the American sweetheart of the time, Britney Spears and her at-the-time boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, when they came to the red carpet wearing denim head to toe. Now, denim might be an association to Britney Spears, but many other celebrities, such as Kelly Rowland or Mischa Barton rocked the look as well. Now the denim skirts are back, with a bit lower hemline and it looks amazing when matched nicely with  a good (monogrammed) tee!

The 2000s was definitely quite a peculiar decade, but luckily for us, it happened, as it gave birth to some of the most iconic songs of all time, great moments and scandals, and extremely bold looks. And even though we cannot bring back the songs and the moments but rather remember them – we can serve those ’00s look once again!
