Now that music festival season is over, this is the best time to pack up the car and head to Palm Springs! The crowds are gone and Palm Springs is beckoning! But really and truly this is an incredible place to visit year round, so I’ve put together a list of 5 fun things to do in this glamorous desert oasis!
1. Relax by the Pool
Lounge in luxury and don’t feel guilty about it for one minute! Palm Springs has an endless array of fab hotels and even more fabulous pool settings. Get your tan on and a lot of times your party on! Whether you want to indulge in a book or enjoy some fabulous cocktails and music, both settings are at your fingertips. Some of my faves are the Ace Hotel Swim Club (they have an incredible cocktail selection from The Amigo Room) and the newly remodeled Hyatt Palm Springs. I just stayed there this past weekend and this hotel’s makeover is #onfleek! The suites are so spacious – I’m in love!
2. Chow Down!
Palm Springs has an endless array of restaurants sure to please every foodie and palate! I lucked out and happened to be there during Palm Springs Restaurant Week! We’re talking three course meals priced at $26 or $38. This is sure to stretch a hungry fashionista’s budget while feeding her belly and soul. This year it took place May 29-June 7th, so you have two full weekends and the week in between to enjoy. I’m personally already putting it in the calendar for next year! Yum! You can enjoy my foodie adventure in my travel vlog right here:
3. I like the nightlife baby!
Forget about Palm Springs reputation as a sleepy town at night, there is LOTS of fun to be had when the sun goes down! As the weather gets warmer, the nights tend to cool off and the balmy atmosphere is perfect for the area’s first ever “Silent DJ” parties, taking place once a month at the Hyatt Palm Springs’ pool deck throughout the summer. And the best part, they’re free! The first one kicks off this Saturday June 20th at 8pm. Wireless headsets will be provided to each guest, with one channel featuring hits from the DJ’s live set and a second channel with a different playlist available for party-goers. Accompaniments such as cold towels, water misters and cold cocktails will keep guests cool and comfortable. It’s fun watching and trying to figure out who is dancing to what?!
Another place I really like is aptly called the Bar right in the heart of downtown! This place really has something for everyone: a great craft beer collection and cocktail menu, tasty eats, a cool calendar of live performances and games for the big kid in all of us! I actually ran into some friends from LA who were there celebrating a bachelor party = small world!
4. Take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and Enjoy the Great Outdoors
Rising 8500 feet above the desert floor, the Palm Springs Tramway offers access to hiking and camping trips in this famous San Jacinto state park wilderness. Whether you want to take it to the top and enjoy a picnic or get a good hike in like I did, the sights are extremely breathtaking. It’s a quick 11 minute trip and oh, did I mention it is between 20 and 30 degrees cooler? So yes, bring a sweater and your camera! I was feeling spiritual so I took a moment in dancers pose (for you yogis) and took it all in!
5. Cruise the Town on Your Time
Enjoy the people watching, the fashion, the unique Palm Springs decor and ambiance, shopping of course and you never know what kind of themed party you might happen upon. Hey, anything goes and I like it that way! You might decide to golf or gamble, you are making your own rules here! Me I personally hit the outlets on my way out ….. as a matter of fact I’m going to wear that new dress I snagged to a wedding this weekend!
I hope this guide helps and wish you a wonderful vacation to Palm Springs! Feel free to tweet me with any questions or to share your experience 🙂
